AP credit, cc course; duplication?

Hi, I'm a first year and hoping to transfer to either UCSD or UCLA.

I was wondering if the units I received from my AP Calc exam would become void once I complete a Calc 1 course at a cc. Would it be a case of duplication? Or are AP credits always there regardless of what classes I take at a community college?

Thanks for reading and/or responding

It depends on the UC. Will UCSD or UCLA give you subject credit for your score? What did you get on it.

Yup, I looked at these tables:
[AP Credit - College of Letters and Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm)
and
http://revelle.ucsd.edu/_files/ap.pdf

They would both give me credit for the four I got on the Calc AB exam.

At LA, I would get 4 quarter credits for “Calculus.”
SD would give me 4 credits, and also exempt me from the first calculus course in the series.

Ok, I don’t think you would get subject credit at UCLA, depending on the corresponding class you would need to take. What’s your major, and what class does it say on assist.org on the UCLA side?

The calculus course at my school corresponds to Math 31A. I put Psychobiology on Assist, but I’m not completely sure if I would like to major in it.

Sooo, my AP credit would be trumped by the calculus course?

Why are you taking Calculus if you have a 4 on the AP exam?

Well, it doesn’t look like UCLA will give you credit for Math 31A with a 4. You might want to call them and ask for sure.
