AP Credit

Just curious how AP credits work at Haverford. Are AP scores used as merely placement indicators for courses or can they be used to exempt out of certain course requirements? What AP scores are necessary to exempt out of Haverford courses for credit? Any specific information or links that anyone can provide on this matter are greatly appreciated.

it's very hard to place out of an intro course based on APs. i scored a 5 on the AP Chem exam and a 790 on the SAT II chem and was still placed into general chem.

a score of 4 will grant you half of a "general" credit and a score of 5 will grant you 1. these credits cannot be used to fulfill distribution requirements. Haverford requires 32 credits to graduate and the "general" credits just lower the number of credits required for graduation. So if you go abroad or whatever you can take fewer courses and not fall behind.

Haverford will only grant up to 4 of these "general" credits. For instance I was granted all 4 so now I only need 28 credits to graduate.

In my opinion, Haverford's AP policy is silly.

Does Haverford accept all AP exams such as AP Human Geography and give you one credit if you get a 5?
