Ap credit

Hello!

I cannot seem to find ANYWHERE a good answer about AP credit at BC. I am taking the AP Calculus BC exam and the Physics B exam. I am in the Honors program at BC and I am a math major. My question is, quite simply, how does AP credit work at BC? (Yes, I am trying to see if I should really even worry about these exams). I got a 5 on the AP US History exam last year, but if I am in the Honors Program am I even allowed to use this credit toward fulfilling my humanities core? Or do I need to complete all of the honors program courses w/o using my AP credits?

Even if I get a 4 or 5 on the Calc exam, I plan on beginning with Calculus 1 at BC, because I want to have a good foundation of my major (I have heard that you should not use AP credit toward your major). Finally, will the Physics test, provided I do well (which will almost definitely not happen), get me out of any classes? If so, which classes?

Sorry that this is so rambling, but I’m so confused and trying to finally get some answers!

You can find a lot of information here: [Advanced Placement - Boston College](http://www.bc.edu/admission/undergrad/process/advstanding.html)

Physics B 4 (Score) 6 (Advanced Placement Units) 2 Natural Science Core (What it fulfills)

Calculus AB (or AB subscore) 4 (Score) 6 (Units) 1 Math Core / 1 Math Elective

US History 4 (Score) 6 (Units) 2 History Electives

So this basically means that, unless you a history major, your U.S. AP score is meaningless. It does not fulfill the history requirements, only World AP or European AP can.

Your Cal, on the other hand, allows you to take advanced math classes earlier on in your freshman year.

Your physics exempts you from the science requirements. Provided, of course, that you get at least four on all of them (or a 3 in Math BC).

This means you will get out of four classes. Sorry with the US History though.
