AP Credit

I assume BC takes AP Credit, but what score do u need, and how does it work? Do u get credits or u place out? (I’m not sure if that last question even makes sense, I’m pretty confused in general bout how AP credits work)

Any info is appreciated…thanks

"In some instances, a score of three will make a student eligible for advanced placement. In most cases, students do not earn actual credit, rather, they fulfill corresponding requirements in the Core Curriculum. Students who have taken multiple AP examinations and have earned the equivalent of 8 or more Boston College courses may apply for advanced standing. If granted, credit for these courses would be applied to the student's transcript, accelerating his/her date of graduation by one year. Students, therefore, who accept this option would graduate in three years."

That link should answer everything.

In most cases you need a 4 to gain credit from BC. I don't think the AP curriculum is stressed enough in high schools -- earning these credits can help immensely. It can help take care of a lot of your core, freeing up space for things like taking on multiple majors/minors or just taking classes that you enjoy.

Moral of the story: Study for your APs and do well. They WILL come in handy.
