Hi!

I was wondering what exactly happens with the credit one gets through APs in the following situation.

If one needs (for example) 25 credits for the freshman year at college, but has made about 16 credits through APs in high school.

The college classes will be basically teaching everything from scratch (since the college's classes in the beginning are not intended for him). What does the person with 16 credits do meanwhile? Join college a few months late? Or if he joins the fall semester, he will enter the spring semester batch's class which is approximately where his credit should take him?

I was just wondering what happens in this lag. [The credits are not enough to satisfy the first year entirely but enough to allow him to not join from scratch.]

Thanks!:D

The person in this situation would probably get out of one semester, if two semesters equal 25 credits and they have 16

You could take other classes…

if your college will give you credit for ap tests with no limitations, then you can pretty much place out or move onto higher level courses. This will allow you to take more classes you want and start your major earlier. Depending on how your school works fiscally, you might/might not be able to only take half year of school. If you are ambitious, you can squeeze that half year worth of classes throughout the next three years and graduate a year early. One can always double major or have 2 minors or w/e. Good luck!

so a college is expected to have high-level classes?

Erm…

In college, you basically can sign up for any classes you wish so long as you have the prerequisites. Classes don’t have assigned “grade levels” that indicate when you must take them.
