How do you receive credit for AP Classes in college?

Just a quick question I had.

So let's say you got the 4 or 5 and you qualify for credit for the specific university. And colleges let you skip over the introductory course and go to more harder course.

What goes on your college transcript? - Do your high school grades go in for that class - or just -- meaning pass and it has no impact on your transcript.

I was just curious how it worked out.

I am pretty sure that it shows that you are exempt from the course and you earn credits.

Oh okay, thanks a lot. One of my classes for one term I did not receive the best mark but I got a 5 on the AP Exam so it would have been discouraging to see that grade pop up again.

Thanks

I thought the grades you got in the AP course would transfer themselves? Or am I wrong?

Another quick question - on the collegeboard website it says

“AP Score Reports are sent in July to the college or university you designated on your answer sheet, to you, and to your high school. Each report is cumulative and includes scores for all the AP Exams you have ever taken, unless you have requested that one or more scores be withheld from a college or canceled. Visit AP Score Reporting Services.”

I took 4 Ap’s in 2011 and 1 in 2010. On the report I got today only my 2011 scores were there. I have not canceled my 2010 score. Is this an error or a new policy they had this year. Should I be concerned and contact them about it?

I’ve never heard of grades from a high school AP class showing up on a college transcript. On my college portal, it just lists the names of all the courses I received credit for.

Sorry to double post, but yes Grdvvk, you should contact the College Board. AP reports should have all the scores from every test you have ever taken.

Thank you I’ll do that.

What number would I call or how would I contact them about it. I called 609-771-7300, but none of their options seem to fit the problem I have.

nvm: 0

Wow they were really nice with the customer service said they’d merge it in 3-4 busniness days. Thanks for the help efk.

Depends on the university.

They might list them just as the AP test and number of credits, or they may have a placeholder course name/number to indicate that your AP test fulfills that course name/number. But typically the scores or grades associated with the AP tests do not factor into your GPA at that university.

I have a question: What if you have no intention of majoring in or taking any courses in the subject of your AP test? Do you simply get however many credits in that particular field and do nothing with them?

For example, I got credit for AP Human Geography, but I have no intention of pursuing Human Geography further in college. Do I just get 4 credits in humanities electives and a pass to the next-level course? Do these credits mean anything else in the scheme of things?
