Hi. I'm going to McGill this fall (woot!), and I had a few questions about the credit system at McGill. I looked on the website, and I have 21 credits from my APs (so I'm U0).

1) So if I get 15 credits in the first semester, does that mean I'm U1 by the second semester of my first year at McGill?

2) If so, do I start taking U1 courses then?

3) If I take 9 courses (~27 credits) in freshman year, does that mean I won't have to take as many courses in subsequent years because I'll have 27 + 21 credits by the end of freshman year?

Thanks!

2) there is no restriction on when you can take which course apart from the fact that certain courses require pre-requisites.

3)yes you will have to take fewer courses later so either you can reduce the number of credits per semester or take the full course load and finish your course earlier

I second the above poster above me. To elaborate a bit more on the last point:

You will still need to complete 99 credits at McGill for your degree. If you take nine courses in your first two years, then 10 courses in your third year, you can finish the rest of your credit requirements in just one semester, making your total undergraduate last three and a half years.

If you take 10 courses every year for three years, and take three summer courses sometime during your first two summers, then you can complete your degree in just three years.

G’luck!
