Hey guys, I will be entering McGill this coming fall, and, as it stands now, I am one AP test away from advanced standing/U1. I’m taking a bunch of tests, and I know I’m going to get a 4/5/credit on AT LEAST one. However, I’m wondering how I should sign up for courses. Course registration will open for me in mid-June, but at that time McGill will not have my senior year AP scores, meaning I’ll still be considered U0.
-Will I be forced to sign up for freshman requirement courses that I’ll later qualify out of?
-Should I just sign up for U1 courses/courses required for my intended major for first semester, put all the freshman requirements second semester, and then change second semester classes once I get U1 classification? (b/c you’re signing up for both fall/winter semesters at the same time)
-Could I just sign up for the courses I would want to take as a U1 and disregard the requirements? (lol this would make me feel nervous but w/ever)
-Or should I just wait until I get U1 classification to register for some/all of my courses?
-I guess the 5th option is to try to get in contact w/ McGill but they’re notoriously bureaucratic… Would I be calling the advising office or do you guys think somewhere else is better?
Sorry if this sounds complicated, it’s really a very technical problem, and I’m just looking for some clarification.
They said in one of their webinars to register under the assumption that your AP credits will come through. So just register for your U1 courses. (Of course, if there are any U0 requirements that are not covered by your projected AP’s, register for those as well.)
That’s great thank you so much… Although since I will have 24+ credits I don’t think the same requirements apply!
