AP credits & prerequisites

So, since MOST of the Medical/Dental schools do NOT accept AP credits earned in high school for the prerequisites, does it mean my 5's on the AP exams for Biology and Chemistry are totally worthless now? Does it mean I have to take General Bio and Chem in college AGAIN in order to get a credit to meet the requirements for medical school?

Thank you!

I heard that if you got a 5 on AP Bio, you can just take an upper level Bio course an medical schools will be okay with the AP Credit. If that’s not true, I might as well just get a 3 on my AP Bio Exam and get my money back. No point in studying for the 5.
