AP dilemma

So I got my schedule this week and they told me that they couldn’t fit AP French on my schedule without making me drop AP microecon(a class i need to graduate). I only have 2 years of language: french 1 + 2 however I was fluent enough to be put in the ap class but that as now isn’t working out. Would top college care if I dual enrolled French instead. So my finished language track would be French 1+2+Dual enrollment French. How badly will this affect my chances? Thanks

Yes dual-enroll in french.

How much worse will it look than taking AP French? @hsseniior2

Depends what level of french you will take at the college.

Elementary french 1 in fall and elementary french 2 in the spring are the only classes available @hsseniior2

Isn’t this duplicative of what you’ve already accomplished?

@skieurope It would be at college level so I’m thinking it may be a bit harder but it’s my only available option other than taking french 3 honors

I’d speak to someone about appropriate placement; I would think that if you qualified for AP French that you could do college French 3. Regardless of what colleges would think, you’d be wasting your time in French I.

I don’t think you would want to duplicate via dual enrollment, a class that you have already taken.

Elementary french in college is for those who have absolutely no experience with the language. It won’t be harder than high school french; beginning french is beginning french. You’ll want to get placed into intermediate french at the college. If that’s not an option, then take french 3 honors at your high school (if I’m understanding you correctly). That would be more appropriate for someone prepared to take AP than an elementary college french course.
