AP English Lang

I am (sort of) self studying AP English Lang. I say sort of because I am in IB English 11. My SAT scores were:

Critical Reading---670
Writing---710

In my English class we do write essays that analyze literary devices in order to gain meaning. I am not sure how similar this is to the AP essays. Also, I have never done any AP multiple choice questions.

What would I get without studying?
and/or
How much do I need to study for a 4?

Help please?
:)

Studying on this test is pretty different from other APs. The only thing you could really do is study rhetorical devices, syntax, and learn how to write good essays. Besides that, it is pretty much natural ability. But you can practice with the tests from books like Cliffs and ARCO.

Remember that the MC accounts for 45% of the total Composite score.
Gr. 2002 Composite Score Range
5 113 to 150
4 96 to 112
3 76 to 95
2 48 to 75
1 0 to 47

here’s a free practice test.

Good luck

Thanks!!!

but could someone make an estimate of my score/amount of studying required?

You need to write a lot. Practice a lot. AP Eng Lang is different from your regular English. It’s main focus is on NONfiction, and how the author and you can use devices (not always literary, but rhetorical) to effectively convey a message.
