1) No
2) I have no idea.

thanks Mike, I'd never heard of that stuff being on it either, and my class (geared towards the AP curriculum) never specifically covered any of it.

qualify is to say "yes, but..." and give conditions. this can in many cases show deeper thought and analysis. you should develop it fully though or else it just looks like an easier way to fill up the paper. say why you agree but how it can not apply to all circumstances and cite examples.

what books did you guys read in your class and would be good to use on essays??? we read great gatsby, brave new world, into the wild, and the things they carried.

sx91, you don't have to use a pen.

JimmyEatWorld711,

1) My Barron's book says that only about 3 questions on the entire MC section pertain strictly to grammar.

2) I've taken several Barron's tests and some past tests my teacher gave me and I've never come across a mode of discourse. I don't even know what that is!

I have a question for everyone else:

In the Barron's book, I noticed that a lot of the passages have a question at the end asking which title would be most appropriate for this passage. Does this kind of stuff occur normally or is it just a Barron's thing, because I haven't seen it in other tests.

"sx91, you don't have to use a pen."

Take that back.

yo wats usually the least u can get on mc and essays to get a 5 on the english ap??

My goodness. I took AP Lit last year, and got a three on it, which was really underachieving compared to how well I did on the practice tests. I was upset so I decided to take AP Eng. Language this year without taking the course and my goodness... is this the consensus easiest AP Test? I thought that this test (the essays in particular) were so unbelievably easy. What kind of marks do you need for a 4 or a 5?

lolol ya dat was 2ez

Score of 5 requirements

1) 25 points MC 25 points on essay (8,8,9)
2) 30 MC 23 Essay
3) 35 MC 21 Essay
4) 40 MC 19 Essay
5) 45 MC 17 Essay

Keep the curve in mind and good luck!

i took mine today!! essays were easy!!

ok so who took this thing today? lets discuss haha cuz i know i studied for like 45 minutes... i take a course PA english through syracuse univ at my HS and Boston College wouldnt accept the credits that i payed $600 for , so at the last minute i took the AP test.. who knows how the hell i did haha

The test was not as bad as I had thought that it would be.

I didn't think it was so bad either, the passages and essays were very interesting!

I especially liked the onion passage. That was really funny.

LET's wait a couple days to talk abot the exam because of we don't...collegeboard will hunt us down

This is a comment of a general nature regarding the difficulty of the exam.

yaeh, jeez sleepy, leave us alone.

i liked the passage abt the onions too. i think i effectively analyzed the authors stylistic choices to describe how onions make a person cry.

Many questions and passages gave me a good chuckle. The test seemed rather amuzing.

The test seemed like it took a radical change from any of the practices I had done. I hardly used any of the things I learned this year in AP English. The MC was easy and hard for some people. I think they just asked too many opinion based questions and I was looking forward to literal questions about structural analysis, rhetoric... stuff that I learned in the class.
