Okay. So I did the third essay "TOTALLY WRONG" and wrote about a country/nation instead of a country-setting. AND according to everyone on this board who wrote it the "right way", I could not possibly do well on the exam.

4!!!!!!! Hahaha. And that's with BSing multiple choice! =) How did everyone who wrote the "wrong way" and "right way" do?

I wrote about a country setting and got a 4. They probably realized that people could misread it and were probably more concerned with the quality of the essay.

That's exactly what I did! I wrote about the whole story hinging on the setting in the nation of South Africa. In fact, at the end of the essay I wrote a note explaining that the question was badly worded and ambiguous, so I shouldn't be penalized either way.

Anyways, I wrote about England as a nation in The Importance of Being Earnest (though I did include paragraphs on urban vs. rural England), and I got a 5.

I wrote about King Lear (rural setting) and got a 4. If I had known I could have taken the question the wrong way, I sure would have because I didn't know too much about the book I wrote on!

this isn't my account (i got banned for some reason) so i use one of my friend's accounts. anyway, i wrote about The Brothers Karamazov for the country essay and i got a 5. i thought it would be a unique and creative choice for a novel. i basically talked about how Russia, with its Orthodox Church, was the setting for two conflicting ideologies/lifestyles (sensualism/freethinking vs. montasticism/dogmatism, in a nutshell), and how that set the foundation for the conflict in the novel between the characters. it's obviously not that simple, but i elaborated on it obviously more thoroughly in my essay.

"You say you bs'd the multiple choice. How bad was it really? I ask because I felt similar but really wan't a 5."

Okay-- I exaggerated. I BSed the middle poem, I remember that much. But I had a 103 fever at the time of the test and I don't remember much more. I remember that only the second essay I really hit -- the first was mediocre, I don't think I ever got to the point. The third apparently I did "all wrong." And I was never any good at MC, so I don't expect greatness.
