AP Environmental Science for Junior Year

Hello everyone,

My question is whether or not I should take APES my Junior year. My current classes are as follows: APUSH, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish Lang, and AP English Lang. I'm also currently enrolled in AP Chemistry, but was thinking of switching it to APES. Though I receieved an A+ in regular chemistry, the calibur between the two classes at my school cannot be compared. I know that it'll be a tough year in AP Chem, and I may not be able to pull off an A without investing a large amount of time into it - effectively weakening my focus on my other classes (and still not guaranteeing an A!).

If I took APES this year, I would take AP Physics my Senior year, though I'm not sure how that would go along. I probably won't be applying to Ivies, so that should ulimately make taking APES less of a negative, right? My goal is to attend a UC/CSU.

My primary concern is my lack of AP sciences, but taking APES would definitely ensure an A my Junior year. I have only taken Biology and Chemistry so far (Honors is not offered at my school, only AP).

I’m doing APES this junior year and I love it! I did regular chem last year and found it to be somewhat more interesting than bio but still very boring. APES has already taught me lot of useful information that’s incredibly interesting! I’m also planning to attend a CSU school, and I highly recommend this class.

As for AP chem, from what I’ve heard, it’s very similar to honors chem in terms of topics, and more like an AP class in terms of strategy and difficulty. If you got an A+ in regular chem, you’d most likely have little struggle achieving at least an A-.

Haha, do you have Schertz? Such a fun class.

Well, AP Chemistry teaches you about all the fundamentals of matter, not sure why you’d want to skip it to take something like APES.

That teaches you about our environment and earth, but that’s just like a weak man’s version of AP Bio

LOL, yes I do!

im practically self-studying for ap environmental science and im a freshman. easy class lol
