Ap exam, Sat ,Sat ii , etc

im in junior year and im worried about the college admission process because there is alot i dont know about,If someone could tell me more about how the admission works and the different factors.Ex( resume, essay, sending transcripts, letters of recommendation, financial aid , etc) would be greatly appreciated.

Anyways regarding ap scores, if i got a 3 should i still send it to the college of my choice? i know it doesn’t earn me any college credits but at least they knew that i took the exam which is better than nothing right? In other words will this increase my chances of getting in? I don’t have any real extracurriculars/ service because i am more focused in academics

Btw when is the deadline to send Sat 2(subject) scores to college? Is it the same as the New Sat? :-< If i have a fee waiver and take up to three sats in a single day, i can send all 3 scores to 4 different colleges free of charge is that correct?

i would also like to know what the heck early decision and early action are. These are just vague terms that i found searching online. The school where im from in Nyc sucks and doesn’t do such a good job informing us about college application process and deadlines so please help

If anyone has knowledge/ experience in this stuff and can provide useful feedback would be appreciated.

AP Exams can help but are not necessary to report and if reported hold minimal weight.
SAT and SAT Subject Test all have the same deadline depending on the college.
You are correct about the free score report to four colleges only if you do it in advance of taking the test
Early Action and Early Decsion have the same deadline except early action is nonbinding and early Decsion is binding meaning if accepted you must attend.

Since you are a junior, you’ve got some time. Find a guide to colleges (the Fiske Guide is good) and start reading about different schools that might interest you.

Visit some schools to get a flavor for what you like. Big? Small? Rural? Urban?

Take the SAT or ACT (or both) test in your junior year if possible so if you need to retake one, you can do that in the early part of senior year. Edited to add: prepare for these tests. There are study guides out there.

Keep your grades up.

See if any of the schools that interest you require SAT Subject Tests. The vast majority of schools do not.

Meet with your guidance counselor to start forming a list of schools you might want to apply to.

Find out how much your parents can contribute each year for your college education. Then, run the Net Price Calculator for schools you are interested in to see what schools are or are not affordable.
