Does anyone currently at harvard actually know him (the kid from The Overachievers) IRL?

OMG I want to find him!!!!

Who is AP Frank?

Yes, Frank is a graduating senior now, and my daughter is one of his friends. She knows several of the Harvard kids depicted in the book. She also met the author who came and followed them around for a while to gather material for the book.

D and her friends were all outraged when the book came out, because she said the book was factually accurate in a broad sense, but the author had spun or distorted things in such a way as to make the Harvard kids appear to be much more stressed and unhappy than they really were. BTW, AP Frank was a CC member for a brief time in high school, but he got fiercely attacked by other CC kids who accused him of lying about the number of AP courses he was taking.

yeah the book did seem a bit overexageratted.

does anyone know what college Frank's brother, Richard, is attending?

i'm almost scared to ask, but how many AP's did he take?

was it 16? 17?

I really liked that book and Frank was my favorite.

Someone in the past posts have mentioned AP Frank's brother was accepted to UPenn, and as for the number of AP's, it was 17.

haha can't wait to read this book! pretty crazy stuff.

Wait, was this 17 before or after senior year?

I hope he's had a good 4 years at Harvard...his high school years sounded pretty tough in the book.

ha...i've taken 17!!!

I would have taken 17 if I weren't at ISEF right now...lucky number 13!

does anyone know what frank chose to study? did he go with him mom on law or medicine?

hah i love how everyone on CC would be the ones reading that book

i also love how i'm channeling the AP frank in me at 3:22 am!!

I'm on the book's website right now (Alexandra Robbins) and on the right side of the screen, it has a place where you can access "character updates." Unfortunately, it requires a password, and since I didn't buy the book and don't have it with me, could someone tell me the first word on page 64?

counted is the magic word

What's the last word in page 153?

AP Frank doesn't know me, though I did see him once in the yard...

My impression about the book is that it had a point to make and was willing to spin its stories to push towards that point. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it- I thought it was well done and interesting- but I would caution strongly against seeing AP Frank's story as an accurate portrayal of life at Harvard.
