I'm gonna take the AP French exam next month and I was wondering if anyone who has taken the exam already (the new 2012 one) can tell me what the test taking process was like? What happens when you do the speaking/listening sections? For listening do they play the audio for the whole room and how much time do they give you to read the questions? How do you do all the recording business and do they give you time to think on the conversation or do you just have to just wing it?

Thanks- my French teacher tells us nothing about the format of the exam. It's really making me nervous...

The below link will give you general info for how the exam is structured:

The proctor gets a CD for section I and another CD for section 2. The proctor plays the CD on a CD player for everyone to hear. Once the CD is started, it can’t be stopped except for equipment problems, so the CD will have the pauses built into them. When the voice comes back on, you have to move on.

The recording is based on the set-up at your school, whether with tape recorders or as a digital recording. The conversation recording you have no time to think because you only have 20 seconds to respond. For the 2 minute presentation, you have 4 minutes to gather your thoughts.

Good luck.

Thanks! This helps a lot :)
