AP government or college government

I know a 2 semester AP class is better than a semester dual enrollment classes, however AP government is only 1 semester in my high school. So would it be better to take college government then? Or does it not matter?

It really doesn’t matter. If it can cover the same material in less time, more power to them. Most schools have AP Gov as a half year course. Mine was full year only because it was combined with the We the People competition. I wouldn’t pay extra money to take a class if it is essentially offered by your high school

Wouldn’t the college course only be one semester too?

@NavalTradition

Yes, but college courses are much faster paced. Every class in college is one semester.

So for example,
2 semester course in highschool=1 semester course in college
1 semester course in highschool(this AP Gov class)=.5 semester course in college???

Depends. A few AP courses, like calculus BC, cover material at approximate the same pace as most colleges, but many others are typically slower paced.

College introductory government/politics courses are typically a semester long, so an AP course that is a semester long would be covering material at a similar speed, if the college considers the AP score equivalent (not all do, since their introductory government/politics courses may be more in-depth or something).

Does it prepare you adequately for the AP exam? If so then it should be fine. What would you take the other semester?

@NavalTradition

Yes, the college class maybe will prepare me more for the AP exam than the high school course.

I will be taking college economics the other semester since my high school no longer offers AP Econ which is strange since they offer AP Gov…
