I'm taking European history this year, and a friend of mine is planning on self studying it just for fun because he's interested in it and it doesn't fit into his schedule. It got me thinking about self studying it. I was wondering if one could come up with a curriculum based purely in film and television. I wonder if you could get a passing grade, 3+, having no outside help other than the stuff you know just from living life. So, help me come up with some fun things you could watch that through the course of an entire school year might put enough information in your head, hopefully accurate information, to get a decent score.

Here's are just from things off the top of my head:

The Borgias
The King's Speech
The Battle of Algiers
Das Boot
