AP European history

I'm preparing for the AP European History Test this Spring (Self-Study). If anyone who is self-studying or taking the class (or has in the past) has any advice about self-studying this course I would appreciate your input!

What time periods seem the most important? Any tips for the Document Based Questions? What methods/books have self-studiers used for this class?

Thank You All! =]

Point of view for the DBQs is really important, as is grouping the documents. There's a whole rubric online for DBQs on the AP exam; Google it or look on College Board. I also know there are 6 core concept points you have to get before you can get a 7-9 on the DBQ.

i took ap euro my soph year.. (which was last year)

and there were a TON of questions on women and their roles in society,
buut then again the exam changes every year, and it's really hard to predict since european history is a broad topic

Okay, thank you both so much! =]

I took AP Euro History last year in my school, it was and still is the hardest class in my life!!! It was my first AP and it was totally rediculous some of the things that my teacher expected us to know. Although I was just an average student in my class, somehow I pulled out a 4 on the AP while kids that studied extremely hard got only a 3. It is a very difficult AP in my opinion and I would focus on the kings and queens of England and France the most (they seemed to constantly be coming up!).

Best of luck!

i really wish my school offered this class. i'm considering self-study for this test too.

This was one of my favorite classes, subject matter wise. I took it 2 years ago, so I don't remember the AP test at all, except for the essay topics which were awesome.

You have to be genuinely interested in the topic to get a 5. French history and British history was awesome. Russians were badass, as well as the Prussians.

Oh. And Gustavus Adolphus.

just keep taking practice tests, like the REA ones.
hehe, and i took a lot of practice tests when i was reviewing, and i kept on failing like crazyyy... 1s and 2s all over, and like maybe best scores on like Cliffsnotes/princetonreview practice tests, which were like 3s.
but on the real test, i got a 4!!! even though i wrote an entire free response essay on the wrong century, and something else, and yaddayadda i could complain about it forever but who cares. 4!!!! :D

i'm taking the class currently. i agree that england and france are points you should focus on - also yes, it's 6 core points on the dbq before the last 3 points. know the consequences of wars (treaties) and broad concepts such as humanism, etc. for the ap, broad concepts are usually more helpful than specific facts, although those are important as well.

i'm self studying for euro too

how different are the euro dbq's from whap?

That's a good question penrose.
If anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it too!
