AP Human Geo prep book?

Hey there! This is the first time I’m going to take an AP exam, trying out AP Human Geo. I’ve never taken a class for this before and I am planning to self-study this time. I kind of have a basic foundation from geography bee but still want to be as fully prepared as possible. Which prep book would give me the most comprehensive information and practice I need for the exam and what are the good and bad points about each book?

Thanks so much!

I skimmed through Barrons a few weeks before the test and got a 5. Obviously Barrons is the most comprehensive, but it has way more info than needed and the practice tests are often a bit harder & the answer keys tend to be riddled with wrong answers.

I’m not totally sure for AP Geo because I didn’t actually study for it aside from the skimming thing, but I assume RE:A and Princeton Review would be pretty good.

Thanks for the advice :)

I used Barron’s in conjunction with the 5 steps to a 5, and also easily got a 5. The course material isn’t much more than memorization. However, the name of the course can be deceptive, because it doesn’t have too much to do with geography. It’s more like a “cultural studies” course. Good luck!

Yup, I found out about that too  Thanks!

use the ethel wood one, it is the best

I used barrons and it is enough to get you a 4. However, you will need a little extra to get a 5 (which is what I got)

I’d recommend the class textbook, which is The Cultural Landscape AP Edition by James M. Rubenstein.

I also agree with @awesomepolyglot for the textbook. I know a lot of people who got a 5 and they had a useless teacher that only made them draw maps and make video projects, in other words no real work. Like 6/14 of them used PR while the others relied on 5STA5. Another advice they told the people who are taking it right now is to bs the writing portion (but I’m not here to really tell you if that is true but hey who knows?)

Thanks for the advice guys, all great suggestions! For me, I took the test that freshman year (this thread is old lol) by self-studying with PR and Crash Course and got a 5, just fyi for anyone out there who is planning to study.

Princeton review worked fine for me -4

Barrons for review in conjunction with Rubensteins’s textbook throughout the year should guarantee you a 5.
