AP Human Geography

I mean it seems like to me the quetion was how hard would it be to self study the AP Human geography exam, not how well informed your son is in AP human geography, but I hope he passes his exams.

sorry -- i didn't mean to hijack the thread -- i was just responding to ryan statements.

i will leave you all to your further discussions and let my son know what I found out.

Actually I can pick all of my own classes since ive done my requirements in the summer. In addittion, I like taking AP exams, that is why I post so much on this site. Furthermore, I seem to be able to manage all of my other activities, going out every weekend, AND doing my testing research and college stuff on my own. I guess I just like being independent, but I guess that isnt for everyone. Ive always thought homeschoolers and public school kids have very different outlooks on life.

hsmomstef: Just ignore all the flame baiters who have hijacked this thread.

As for your son, buy a copy of The Economist at a news stand before getting a subscription. If he likes it, subscribe. It costs $129 to subscribe and it is never, ever, discounted.

thanks for the nice thought bill!

He does check out the economist from the library every so often and reads it -- he does enjoy it. And it is discounted for students -- $77 for a year subscription. A great rate! https://www.economistacademic.com/index.cfm?action=sso

Getting back on track here-- in terms of difficulty, what other AP would you compare this to?

None. But for studying, Barrons is a really good prep book. Without ever taking the class at a school, studying the book would at least get you a 3.

In my APHG class last year, we used all of these resources and all of them worked to our advantage when we took the exam.

I passed by the way...:)

AP Human Geography was pretty easy. I took it freshman year with hardly any studying.

it was my favourtie class in school ever. if you would like a fun class that gives college credit, this is it.

eh. I heard that many colleges don't give credit for human geo. Interesting stuff though.

Hi guys,
It's about 3 days away from the H geo exam and I just stumbled upon this site.
I have some URGENT questions I really want to ask.

From what I heard on another thread, the H geo test is really hard, with terms that aren't even on the Barron's book. I'm self-studying it, and didn't find out there was even a textbook till I came across this site about 20 minutes ago. On the condition that I studied and retained about at least 85% of the info in the Barron's, how prepared am I?

I checked out the regular World Geo textbook from the school; is it helpful on the exam? (it's more generic than the Barrons)

Do you guys know of any online preparation site for the test? I can't Express order the Rubenstein book, so I'll just have to make do with the best I can.

Thanks!
