I just took AP Japanese this year as a senior, and I was really surprised that I got a 5. I’m not saying I’m horrible at Japanese, but I’ve had minimal Japanese studying since my high school didn’t have an AP Japanese/Japanese 4 class. I can’t say I’m very good at Japanese at all though. My speaking is terrible, and I’m not great at kanji either. Probably what helped a lot though was studying for the JLPT, competing in Japan Bowl, and watching anime. I wouldn’t recommend watching anime though, since you won’t learn a ton, though it’s not a bad way to pick words up here and there if you know enough of the language.

僕の学校はap日本語のクラスがありません。

I got a 5 this year and I thought it was pretty easy.
Because I have lived in china before, thats why im totally fine with kanjis.
Besides that, in order to become fluent in a language, you really have to listen to it speak it often outside of the class. If you are interested in anything related to japanese culture, or anime, their drama, go ahead and watch them, its really helpful.
