I'm a sophomore, and next year I'm skipping Latin IV and going into AP Vergil. Has anyone taken it? How bad is it?? What should I do over the summer to prepare?

I'm also sort of nervous because my Latin teacher this year (he'll be teaching AP also) was brand new and not a very good teacher...

I am a parent of a current IB Latin HL student. The progression of Latin at her school was I, II, III, AP Lit, AP Vergil, now IB. DD had no problems going from III into both AP's. I'm not sure what to tell you about your teacher though, maybe you could ask a current AP Latin student at your school about their experience in his/her class.

Latin IV here is the Aeneid for about 3/4 of the year and parts of the Metamorphoses for most of the rest. So, really, it could be AP Vergil if my school district ever decided to realize that AP language courses are just as important as AP science classes.

Thanks guys.
Also, has anyone taken the Latin SAT Subject Test? I was thinking of taking it, but my school doesn't recommend it. Something about teaching a different style or something.

The Latin SAT Subject Test isn't bad. It's a bit like the Nat'l Latin Exam, but without any culture or history and a huge focus on forms and recognizing grammatical structures. There are some very short prose and poetry passages--usually one question that requires scansion.
