I bought the REA book but haven't started it yet. My teacher said this one will be the hardest that College Board has given since its the last year the exam will be administered. Are there any other good test prep materials?

Is there a list of required poems that may appear on the test? It's really going to suck going over each and every one of Catullus's and Ovid's poems.. I don't want to waste my time on ones that won't appear.

(FYI.. my teacher is almost sure that the essay will be on Catullus 64.. it's a prediction.. but they won't give you a 300 line poem to read and then not even test you on it..)

i’m so glad theres at least one person on this site taking the latin lit…
i’m not even studying from a book.

my teacher’s predictions: ovid passage will be apollo and daphne since they love it and its the last latin lit ap. agree that essay will be on catullus 64 (it has been for the last 3 years… but maybe collegeboard will switch it up…). no catullus 64 on multiple choice.

Wow, I HATE POEM 64!!! I’m basically going to look over what they chose the last couple years for essays/translations/etc, and make predictions as to what will be on this one. I guess you all chose Ovid like our class did as well. I honestly cannot believe that they expect us to pretty much memorize that many poems.

I’m taking Vergil, and I will die. I can put words in order and guess forms for mc pretty well, but translating? Hell no. I’m going to go over the English translation and review vocab before the test and pray for a 3.

Right now I’m going over (i.e. memorizing) the Catullus poems. At this point, I am 38% done with Catullus and have only done Apollo and Daphne of Ovid (although I went over it briefly). And no, I am not a crazy perfectionist, I just calculate how much I have done to procrastinate.

I HATE POEM 64.

Anyway, my teacher predicted that 64 would be on the multiple choice and that the Ovid would be Pygmalion (although he conceded they do love Apollo and Daphne).

I took it last year and I’m taking Vergil this year. I guarantee you Catullus 64 will be on there; it always is. It was on my exam TWICE last year (once in the MC, once in the essays). I used the REA book lightly (it’s mostly just a grammar review) and re-read my translations a few times and got a 5.

i used to hate 64 so i went over and over and over again until i knew it cold and now it’s not that bad…philemon and baucis though is awful-so many random foods…

I took latin lit last year, and I loved Daphne and Apollo!! If I were taking that exam tomorrow and if it were on there, I’d be so excited!! And even though Cat 64 was awful to translate because it wasn’t in our book so we didn’t get any notes for it, it really is a nice poem…

what is this class anyway?? lol. do u guys learn the language of latin first and then write in latin about the poems that are written in latin?? is it helpful even though it is a dead language??

ok my teachers predictions: 64 as an essay question (he doesnt think itll show up as the catullus mc… but you never GODMN KNOW… i hate that poem). poems 8, 31 for catullus frq (i hope to god that the frq is more on the earlier poems… theyre so much easier plus last year had a lot of later poems so… and also its nice to go back to the beginning to end latin lit ap). ovid hes pretty sure is pygmalion and apollo+daphne.

i really hope 64 doesnt show up anywhere… and its been so overused in the past two aps that i have some doubts itll show up on 2009s… (2007 had essay q on 64 but it was comparison of two passages from 64, and 2008 had mc and essay q on 64… gosh i wouldve died if i took it last year)

I STILL HAVE 21 MORE POEMS TO MEMORIZE… ugh

me too! the multiple choice for the passage we knew i thought was easy…some of the sight reading multiple choice were iffy though but i remember thinking the same thing last year after vergil and i think it’s INSANELY curved. so happy they’re all over!
