AP Latin or AP Computer Science?

For my senior year, I'm deciding between taking AP Latin or AP Computer Science. Some of my other classes are AP Lit, AP Calc, and AP Chem.

If I take AP Latin, I would be one of the few students in my school to take it (it's a hard class) and it would also be my 4th year of language. I'm equally interested in taking AP Computer Science, as it would be one of my easy AP classes.

I'm mathematically bent and I plan on majoring in either electrical or chemical engineering.

AP CS since you’re inclined to study math.

^ Otherwise AP Latin, colleges tend to love foreign language, if you continue it you would be competitive. Plus Latin is pretty impressive since it is not commonly taken, so it would raise your rigor too.

I would take Latin, self study Computer Science. (my opinion though)

@elefish92‌ Yeah, I’m leaning toward Latin because I still want to seen as a well-rounded student, not someone who’s just good in math.

@lax8249 - Just be mindful of the fact that AP Latin is incredibly difficult - my Latin teacher said that it was considerably harder for her (an avid Latin student) than AP Physics C was her senior year. She almost decided against applying to college as a Classics major because of it.

@preamble1776‌ Thanks for the advice, I will take that into consideration. I talked to seniors who take the class, and they said it is more difficult than Latin 3, but it is manageable.

Are you planning on taking the Latin Subject test this June? You really should, as a high score on that test can get you out of having to take a FR language in College, AND it will show your mastery of Latin. In addition, I recommend you DO take AP Latin your Sr year. It is a hard course but colleges KNOW this, and it WILL show that you are a well rounded student and have really challenged yourself in HS. There is time for Computer science classes in College. your Sr year schedule looks good.
