Does anyone know a good prep book for this?
Does preping with satll Latin help?
Thanks

First, let me recommend that no one--ever--take that test. Latin Literature is much, much easier.

But if you want to, or if you've already taken Latin Literature, the only prep book is The Aeneid. You MUST translate the sections tested or you will fail miserably, and that's a fact. My Latin teacher told me that one of his friends was a Latin professor at the University of Chicago, and she got a 4 when she took the test because she hadn't specifically prepared for it. It also helps to practice the multiple choice sections from old tests. Other than that, not much will help. And if you know so little about Latin that an SAT II book has information you don't know, then I suppose you should learn Latin first, then translate. Wheelock's is the best for intensive Latin.

I took the AP Vergil test, I havent gotten my results back, but it wasnt bad. I didnt get any prep book because there really isnt any prep book, that I have found anyway. However, I found that reading the passages over and over, and just translating passages many times helped me. Probably search on google for schools that have AP Vergil, they might have some vocab lists which you might be interested in.

I thought vergil is suppose to be easier than literature. anyway thank you iwasatypo, penguiiinman for your reply.

I took Vergil and Latin Lit in the same year (it's a great deal, you only have to pay for one) and I got 5s on both. The only real preparation is to read what's on the syllabus- I read all of the Vergil passages and about 70% of the Latin Lit ones, because I wasn't originally intending to take Latin Lit. Just read and reread from a clean copy, review what ought to be covered in an essay, and get some sleep the night before.

Hmm I thought the Latin Literature was the harder test because of the lack of online resources. You are also responsible for learning more works by Catullus and either Horace, Cicero or ovid.

Literature is easier primarily because the translations are much less tedious. They are much shorter (so there are more of them) and much more entertaining. Catullus is witty and his wordplay is amusing. Ovid (I recommend Ovid over the other two) is very interesting. Vergil's Aeneid is much less so.

More 5s on Vergil though

Also, Elizabeth22, CB discontinued the 2 for 1 deal...you now have to pay 82.00 per exam

Err, just by the way, the two AP tests for one deal is no longer valid. You now have to pay for Literature and Vergil separately, as well as U.S. Gov and Comparative Gov and all the other combinations. Even more reason to hate collegeboard.
