You can take 1 AP as a junior and unlimited senior year. There’s nothing available for freshmen and sophomores.

No limit at my school other than having to follow certain progressions to get into AP. So you are limited to 2-3 APs Freshmen and Sophomore years, but you can go up to 6 at Junior year.

Y’all don’t really get it do you…

There are ways around such limits. Haven’t you ever thought about discussing this stuff with your school, or perhaps asking for workarounds?

I currently hold the record for most APs taken at my school (instead of the usual 3, I took 9 exams) because I know how to get what I want. And I somehow managed to do this when there was still the hold on juniors taking APs. They just started letting juniors take AP English.

So actually, we do get it. The OP asked if our schools had any limits, not how to get around them.

@Masterball Mean Girls quote? xD

No limits, just no APs for freshmen.

Freshmen and sophomores are not allowed to take AP classes at my school (though you can MAYBE get permission for one as a sophomore if you have an IEP).

There is no official limit for juniors or seniors. However, my school is small so most AP’s only have one section - and it is pretty much impossible to get more than 4 in your schedule each year, especially if you are involved in band/choir, or take level 4 of a foreign language. I don’t think anybody has managed to get more than 7 AP’s total just because of scheduling issues.

@LosingCrayon I believe it is also a calc joke ;)

That was funny.

Pretty much the same at my school, although it’s not official policy, it’s just how scheduling works out. Theoretically you could fit 8-9 if scheduling matched up perfectly, but 3-4 is your typical limit. Same thing for Freshman and Sophomores too.

No, but my school stacked the AP’s by subject and period to stop you from going off the deep end. Like APUSH and AP World are the same period and AP Stats and Calc

My school mostly has CC classes, sucks a little bit.

But as far as requirements though for just AP, there aren’t any open for freshman. 1 for Sophmores (AP World) unless you take another online like I did but that’s a rare occurrence. Two open for Juniors (Chem and US) but most only take US, and Seniors have US Gov, Chem, and Physics. They are CC classes in Math, English, Biology, and Languages for Juniors/Seniors.

@Masterball I was going to say that -__-

@shawnspencer Yeah, at one part she’s doing this math competition and that’s the answer I wasn’t sure at first, since no one ever quotes that one.

My school doesn’t have an official limit, but if the guidance counselor doesn’t believe you’ll be able to manage the schedule that you signed up for, it’s hard to take the classes you wanted. I usually don’t have a problem with that though.

My school doesn’t have a limit on how many you can take, so theoreticly you could take 5 or 6. Freshman can’t take ap classes. Sophomores used to take ap world, but the class was recently removed. They can get recommended for Ap Spanish and Ap English, but it’s rare. Juniors and Seniors usually take 3, but there isn’t so many available and no one has ever wanted to. Besides required cources not available in ap often make up 2-5 of the classes you take depending on the year.
