AP Lit teachers doesn't teach???

My teacher told us that it is a student run class and I honestly think she is making things up as she goes along. I did not take AP Lang so any tips on how I can prepare myself and do well on the exam?

Buy a guide book; Barrons, Princeton, Cliffs…

Good luck.

For AP Literature, as silly as this sounds, read. A lot. It’ll give you material for that tricky last question on the exam, and it will teach you how to analyze. Make sure you don’t just stick with novels, either - although you can’t use poetry on the aforementioned third question, it is the focus of an entire essay and half of the multiple choice section, and it’s definitely worth your time to study those rhetorical devices.

As julieaw said, as well, invest in a good prep book. Going over sample questions and essays really helped me when I was reviewing last year.

I’m sorry about your teacher, and good luck!

My daughter’s teacher pulled that same crap. The twelfth graders “teaching” other twelfth graders that year taught them a lot of “information” that was just plain wrong.

It turns out, for example, that George Eliot was a woman, and Evelyn Waugh was a man. Who knew? Well, she did, and so did anybody else who already knew that before the class, but a lot of kids learned a lot of false or badly presented “facts.”

I think taking this approach to this class is inexcusable. Sorry you’re being subjected to it.
