Where I can find a good list of literary terms that could possibly appear on the AP English Literature exam? I searched cc and couldn't find much..

My English teacher told my class (after hearing it from more experienced AP teachers) that the only literary devices you have to know really well are the basic ones like metaphor, simile, etc. So I guess as long as you're familiar with the basics, you're all set.

Learn some that are unique to poetry.

i think one needs to know the specific poetry terms like apostrophe, synecdoche, blank verse, free verse, etc.

One thing I'll tell you all..from my experience. Lit terms are near USELESS. Pretty much. It's good to throw them in once in a while but as demeter said, if you know the basic ones (that you should know if you're in an AP Lit class anyway) such as imagery, metaphor, parallel syntax, diction, tone, and maaybe a few more "uncommon" ones it should be enough. The multiple choice seldom contains questions about difficult, rarely-used lit terms. For the essays, I find it best to tackle the meaning and core purpose of the question first rather than trying to think of fitting lit terms. If I have sufficient time then I will throw in a couple of random lit terms just to spice if up..but as long as you get the key elements they're looking for, which are usually tone/syntax/diction/imagery/metaphoric language related, you should not be penalized for failing to use lit terms on the FR. A strong response with little to no lit terms is better than a weak one with lit terms used for the sake of using them and not really serving their purpose.
