AP Lit vs AP Gov

So next year (senior year) , I’m already taking AP Stats, AP physics and AP Spanish. I want one more ap, either lit or gov.
AP Lit:
really hard teacher, but all pretty good (I had the hardest ap lit teacher my freshman year, and she was amazing though difficult)
extremely stressful
A ton of work
Looks good on apps
I like literature a lot, and I find the class very interesting

AP Gov:
Only one semester (you can get it either first or second semester, can’t choose, and the other semester is regular econ, no ap option)
Teachers are hard but easier than lit
Doesn’t look as good as ap lit
I find government interesting but I don’t like taking notes, and this class has 40 pages of reading a week, something I don’t like
Don’t like busy work
Less stressful class

So which should I take? I want to take one or another to just have 4 aps next year, since I only took 2 aps (calculus bc and ap english this year) which is only average in my school- so I want my courseload to show rigor but not be too difficult. I’m aiming for UCB/UCLA and probably majoring in economics (or maybe statistics).

AP Lit. You like it and being able to write is always a desirable skill.

Is there a big difference between AP Gov and AP Lit in terms of college admissions, especially considering that AP Gov is only one semester?

anyone?

Do what you like best, not what is more advantageous for college admissions.

I’m not sure about that either :frowning:

I like lit better but I also don’t want too much work and lit is a ton of work

for UCB and probably for UCLA, the AP Lit will be more useful because with a 5, you can get out of both the Reading and Composition classes. I dont think that the AP US Govt class will buy you as much.

Colleges will look at the entire 4 year schedule, and not focus on each and every course choice. Yes, colleges realize that not all AP course are the same rigor, and know that AP Lit is generally more rigorous that APUSG, but as @MrElonMusk says, don’t pick classes to impress admissions.
