I’m an upcoming senior taking AP Stats, AP Physics, AP Spanish, (regular or AP) Gov, Econ, and (regular or AP) lit. I need to choose between between taking the 4th ap with lit or gov. I’m a potential econ+ finance major, took 2 aps as a junior (AP Calc BC and AP English, with two honors, physics and spanish honors, + us history and accounting) . AP Gov and AP Lit are both very hard in my school, though AP Lit is slightly harder, I also took AP English next year. I’m interested in both subjects, but don’t like memorizing/notes much. AP Gov is also only one semester, with regular econ (no ap option) the other semester. Which should I take if I want to go to UCB/UCLA/UT Austin? Also, would 6 aps total in high school be wayy too little (the max students take in my school would be probably be 3 or maybe possibly 4 junior year, and then 4 senior year).
It won’t matter. Take the one you are more likely to actually find interesting (with luck that will be the same one that you are most likely to do well in).
Six is a perfectly normal number. Will your GC tick the ‘most rigorous’ curriculum box? that’s what will matter.
Don’t forget to calculate your UC GPA- they do it differently.
So you would have no econ at all if you took AP lit? I think if you are planning on majoring in econ, you should have at least a 1 semester of that subject on your transcript.
If you are thinking very seriously about Texas take AP Gov. US Gov is a required course at Texas universities and so is Texas Gov by the way. A 3 on the exam gets you out of the requirement.
No, if I took AP Lit, I would just take regular econ one semester, regular gov the other semester. If I took AP Gov, I would take ap gov one semester, REGULAR econ the other semester, and then regular literature. @momofsenior1
I talked to the counselor and she told me she would definitely call my courseload rigorous, but didn’t elaborate further.
Can you take Honors english? I think that an AP Gov might be good.
there is no honors option for neither english or gov. Its ap or regular .
