Where I live, students can dual enroll at the local community college. The classes they take count for both high school and college credit. So some students can graduate with an AA degree. But several students use this program as a method to boost their GPAs as the classes are very easier and are weighted like AP classes.

So here is my problem: For the longest time, I have had the dream of being my school's valedictorian to help my chances of attending a prestigious school. But there is this girl at my school who is taking extra easy courses at the community college and even though I am taking as many APs as possible, her GPA will end up being higher. I don't feel like dual enrollment is the correct path for me. But I don't particularly like giving up on dreams.

So, would top colleges prefer the student with numerous AP classes(15+) without the distinguished title of valedictorian to the valedictorian who won by an easier course load?

Thanks guys.
