I'm currently in grade 10 and taking the IB at my school in Asia. I've taken the MYP and the last of PYP, so I have more knowledge about the IB. In my current school year and the previous one I've had an average of 6 on my final report card. I've chosen Chemistry and Spanish SL and Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Physics, and ICT HL. My question basically is that I am thinking about going to the US, which my parents and sisters are urging me to do, where I would take AP classes, so do you think I should go to the US and take AP classes, which is something I want to do, or stay in the IB and complete the Diploma years program? Which do Universities, UC's and Ivy leagues in particular, prefer?

When we toured highly selective colleges and universities with our son, people would often ask the admissions officer whether their institution preferred IB or AP students. The answer was always the same: “We want to see that you have taken the most challenging curriculum offered by your school. If that is IB, fine. If that is AP, fine. If your school is small and offers neither, that’s ok, as long you have taken the most challenging classes your school offers.”

So I think you should go to the U.S. if you want, or stay in Asia if you prefer–you can take either IB or AP.
