AP Physics 1 Exam with AP Physics C Class

Right now, as a freshman, I’m taking an honors physics class that’s basically most of the AP Physics 1 material. I would have self-studied it, but by the time I realized how similar the material is the exam registration deadline for my school had passed.

However, I’m planning to take AP Physics C in my junior year, and I’ve heard that AP Physics C is basically the same as 1 but with calculus. Does that mean that I could take the AP Physics 1 exam at the end of my AP Physics C class in junior year?

Thanks to anyone who answers

If you will be taking AP Physics C, why wouldn’t you take the AP exam for E&M and/or Mechanics?

Yes, I would take both exams, but I am considering taking the AP Physics 1 exam in addition to those two.

I’m wondering the same, I’m taking Physics C Mech next year…but I’m not sure if I should take Physics 1 as well.

You could, but it will likely be a waste of time and money. Almost every college limits AP Physics credit to, at most, 2 of the 4 exams. So if you get credit for C: Mech and C: E&M, you would likely forfeit credit for 1.
