AP Physics 1 Sophomore Year?

I took an Algebra 2 course this year (I am a Freshman) so I could be ahead in math; my course had an extra trigonometry unit that my school doesn’t usually teach in Algebra 2. Since I took this course, should I take AP Physics? I really enjoy math and science, so I thought this would be right up my league…I guess. My schedule for next year is:

AP Gov
Honors Precalc
Honors English (regular English is full of morons)
German II
Honors Chemistry (this class is 2 periods)
Strength and Conditioning (alternates every other day)
Guitar I (alternates every other day)
Digital Communications
Business Computer Apps (dropping this class though)

Please tell me if I could handle this; I do know I want to take this class, and I am willing to do the work, no matter how hard it is…but is it smart?

For people who took AP Physics 1, do you have to remember a lot of trigonometric identities? And what would your tips for staying afloat?

If you say you’ve taken Algebra 2 already, I don’t think it should be a problem for you to take AP Physics 1 in sophomore, especially considering that you are interested in sciences. Although I obviously haven’t taken the exam yet, what I can tell from practice exams and classwork, Physics 1 is doable in 10th grade, as long as you really are willing to put what could be a very substantial amount of time into it. You don not need to memorize any trig. Calculators are allowed on the entire exam, and the equation sheet actually lists some unit circle trig. Since my teacher did this I assume most other teachers also use the same conditions on their tests/quizzes. Tip for staying afloat: study throughout the year, don’t leave it all until April!

You’ll have no trouble at all. AP Physics 1 is super easy. I’m sure even freshman can do well in it.

Waiiiitttt you’re taking AP Gov as a SOPHOMORE? Sorry, but isn’t that a senior class?

@valedictoriangod Please note that schools have different ways of operating-- courses with the same name may have vastly different levels of difficulty, schools offer different course selections, and courses may have different prerequisites or a different normal order. Perhaps the OP is a standout for taking AP Gov as a sophomore, but it’s quite possible that AP Gov is just one option for a sophomore at their school.

@SweetGenius It looks like you’ll be okay. I don’t have experience with Physics 1, so I can’t help you there, but I do hope you have fun.
