@yoda4ever Ok, I see. Do you get to see how you did and are there any sort of released solutions?
Thanks, my teacher said we would have a practice test tomorrow, so I’ll assume that’s it.
Thanks for your help. That answer makes sense.
Nobody has access to the 50 question practice test except for teachers.
Omg I’m going to fail the exam
I got a 13/25 on the released MCQs and a 30/50 on the 50 MCQ teacher exam…anyone want to predict cutoff for a 5?? I was thinking 63%
@ILDocter that’s really not a bad score for the 50 MC test nor the 25 questions. 30/50 should be on track for at least a 4, and I think the cutoff for a 5 would be around 65%
Regarding rotational motion (as you can probably tell I feel a little uneasy about this topic), how would you rank which object reaches the bottom of an inclined plane fastest and why?:
- A solid sphere rolls down a plane without slipping
- A hollow sphere rolls down a plane without slipping
- A solid ring/hoop rolls down a plane without slipping
- A cube slides down a frictionless plane
- A solid sphere rolls down a frictionless plane without slipping
- A hollow sphere rolls down a frictionless plane without slipping
- A solid ring/hoop rolls down a frictionless plane without slipping
Thanks!
The cube will definitely be the fastest because none of the potential energy at the top gets converted into rotational kinetic energy. The others depend on the rotational inertia’s of the objects. The higher the rotational inertia, the longer it will take for the object to go down the ramp. This is because the formula for rotational kinetic energy is .5(rotational inertia)(angular speed)^2. The only thing that is different for every object is the rotational inertia’s so you have to use that. They will probably give the rotational inertia’s in the problem.
I’m not sure how clear that explanation was, so hopefully you understand it.
@glasshours, time to cram for physics now lol
Chem: Done-- Next step Physics :-S
same here @xurian, Chem was really hard and now this. My class switched to AP physics 1 mid year from honors. How screwed am i? I haven’t done any MC until the past 2 weeks and i feel that this exam will be more challenging for me
@notachemgod ‘Luckily’ I was in physics 1 all year, but my teacher was a bit lacking… we got through a whopping 3 units over the entire year. I don’t know how I’m possibly going to learn what I need to before wednesday. Does anyone have a comprehensive study guide that I can feasibly cover in 2 days?
im using these questions as a guide to the AP exam. Does anyone know how they compare to the actual AP exam? http://www.aplusphysics.com/ap1/ap1-supp.html
GUYSS!!! My teacher told us that we would have no calculator or equations on the multiple choice!!! Will we be provided with an equation sheet, tables, and calculator for BOTH MC AND FREE RESPONSE!!! Also, even though we have a calculator, we can still assume 10 m/s^2 for constants like gravity right? Also, if the equation sheet for the new AP Physics 1 exam is available somewhere, can someone link that? Thanks everyone!!!
@yaytest33 Yes, your teacher is wrong. I went to an AP review and multiple teachers confirmed that you can use a calculator as well as everything else
https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/ap/ap-physics-1-equations-table.pdf
Wait, we get a calculator on mc?
Well, you use your own, but yes, calculators are allowed.
Even though we get a calculator for MC, I feel like it’s not that useful…aren’t most of the questions conceptual?
@Mathman97 - Sigh. How did you feel about chem?
I might be wrong, but do you only get the formula sheet for one half of the exam (FRQ). I believe last year with Physics B this was the case, but it could be different now with Physics 1/2.
Ok, so since we are allowed to use a graphing calculator for the entirety of the test-- including the multiple choice. Is there anything that prohibits storing conceptual notes on my calculator that I can view during the exam? The CB site says that they don’t require you to clear the memory and that all functions of the calculator are permitted so long as you don’t take any answers from the testing room. It feels like cheating, but is it? I couldn’t find anything that says it’s not allowed.
@Xurian I don’t think it isn’t considering cheating because they allow it and make no rule directly against it. Only thing is that it will take up precious time looking up your notes giving you less time to answer each question
@Gatortristan Hmm, I’ll make the formatting really nice then
