***AP Physics 1 Thread 2014-2015***

lol i feel you rn @Xurian Bout’ to load up my calculator with my textbook lmao

Not sure if I’m going to use my calculator for this exam, but I used NoteFlio for chem and 10/10 would recommend

How many Multiple Choice and Open ended questions are there and what’s the time for each section again??

@Upenngirl98

There are 50 multiple choice questions and 5 frq’s i think.

So as far as the released MC go, are we not allowed to share them? Because my teacher only got the FRQ for some reason even though he’s certified and stuff (and judging by some of the comments earlier on this seems to be a theme) and I’d love to get some MC practice in before the exam so I don’t go in blind.

@glasshours I felt veey confident I got a 5 at first, now that ive talked to people I’m feeling like I got more of a low 4 lol, how about you

I feel like no one is prepared for the test lol, my teacher was awful

@Xurian I’m a noon and I have a ti-84. How are you loading stuff onto your calculator? You mind sending me some stuff?
What else are you guys doing to review because I feel like I’m so screwed for this test. Anyone else know how to load calculator?

@SimpleBio I’m using the notefolio app. Look it up and you can install for TI-84. You basically just put word docs onto your calculator for viewing. I’m not really sure what I should put on tbh. I don’t even know what this test is on besides kinematics and newton’s laws…

About 40 hours until the test >﹏< Good luck everyone on physics (and calculus if you’re taking it tomorrow)!!!

My FRQ predictions:

  • Rotational motion (objects on inclined plane or measure angular momentum of system)
  • Waves (maybe maybe Doppler effect) ~ maybe lab?
  • Electrostatics - open/closed series and parallel circuits (junction, loop rules) OR comparing/finding electric force between charged particles
  • Gravitational force
  • Work, power, energy (prob not paragraph length because that was on the practice exam)

Additional comments:

  • Waves-maybe closed and open pipes. However, all of collegeboard’s online sample frqs have pertained to closed pipes.
  • Kinematics - I am unsure about this in the FRQ. It might appear, but in their released exam, I felt that Collegeboard put a lesser emphasis on kinematics than other topics.

Does anyone have any ideas for conceptual kinematics FRQs?

Planning on reading all of the physics tutorials here for review, besides 1D Kinematics: www.physicsclassroom.com/class

They’re pretty helpful and easy to understand, especially if you didn’t have a great teacher

@yoda4ever For conceptual kinematic FRQs one might be comparing ramp motion with projectile motion in terms of time, final velocity, acceleration, etc. That was a pretty big kinematic concept our teacher emphasized over the year though it didn’t show up in FRQ in the practice exam. Anyone else?

@Xurian can u give me any of your notes?

Hi everyone. I’m taking Physics 1 this year. However, my experience in the class has been all but fulfilling. It seemed like the majority of the school year our teacher had us do very dumbed down labs that reiterated basic information like how 9.8m/s^2 is derived. Furthermore, my teacher pretty much just handed us packets of work of physicsclassroom.net and had us teach the material to ourselves. I’m very anxious about this upcoming exam…more so because my teacher said that we wouldn’t be able to cover over the material and she is rushing to “teach” us electromagnetism.

Can someone confirm if we can use the formula sheet on the MC? I’ve heard/read both yes and no.

If no, I better start cram memorizing those formulas.

@Xurian @Gatortristan I hope you get caught for cheating. That is unfair to people like myself that have worked all year to know this information, and if you do get a good score, you’re just a liar, lying to colleges about your competency pertaining to physics…

@CeLcel You can use Formula Sheet and Calculator on the entirety of the exam.

@fairagoura Thanks for your blessing…No where in the college board set of rules for the AP Physics 1 exam does it say that stored information in your calculator is not permitted. Therefore how are we cheating again? Sorry I don’t meet your view of ethical standards but frankly their your views and I don’t want to or care about meeting them. In fact, it isn’t unfair to people like you because you are given the same set of rules and tools for this test and whether or not you choose to use them is on you. I wish you the best of luck on the test.

I’ve been able to hold a B+/A- in the class all year, but I am absolutely failing at both the multiple choice and free response. I thought I knew this stuff…I think I’m just gonna stop studying and study for other exams. It didn’t help that we didn’t get any review materials for this exam until very recently.
