Hi!
I’ll be a sophomore in the fall, and I’m considering taking AP Physics 1 and 2. I’m not sure if this may be too much for someone to handle, as I’m also taking the following classes:
AP Calculus BC
Advanced English
AP Biology
Spanish 3
Civics and Economics
The reason that I want to do this is because I plan to apply to a special STEM school for my junior year.
What are your past experiences with Physics 1 and 2? Are the classes themselves extremely difficult? Is there a significant overlap between the two classes, which would make it advisable to take Physics 2 the same year as Physics 1?
Thank you for your help!
My D took Physics 1/2 (it’s taught as one class at our high school) as a junior but my S will be taking it as sophomore like you. If you have the math for it you should be ok. S18 is only in pre AP Pre Cal next year so you should be good.
@3scoutsmom How difficult did your daughter find the material? Also, how does she think she did on the exams?
Thank you!
@spark101 Her course grade was 99 out of 100 for both semesters though she said it was a lot of work I know she did a lot memorizing for the AP exam. She did say there was one free response questions that she did not know what they really wanted for an answer so she she pretty much wrote everything she knew about the topic and thinks she probably missed that question.
She was very surprised at the overall low % of 4’s and 5’s for both the AP Physics exams. She said the tests weren’t that hard. She said her teacher did a very good job preparing her for the AP exam. I guess we’ll see when she gets her scores!
@spark101 got my d’s scores: 5 on Physics 1 and a 4 on Physics 2 Good enough for me:-)
@3scoutsmom That’s amazing! Thank you so much for your help, and congrats to your daughter.
