AP Physics B test is scaring me...

My Phys teacher stresses that everyone should be getting 5s. I took the 2004 released exam for practice, and got about 130/180 raw points (after considering the guessing penalty). Is 130 points enough to get a 5 on the Phys B exam? If not, can you please tell me what is needed to get a 5? Thanks in advance.

I would assume its on the low end

a 115 is a 5 on the 2004.

diesel: Wow, you serious?, that is like the curve for the Calculus BC exam O_o. Thanks, you made my day.

yep, composit score of 115 is a 5. i took the 04 on wednesday and she gave us the scoring sheet(well, then again on friday as well because she knows the entire class had the frq on their calculators. if we had one exam, why would she not think we had the form B as well)

that's why i never got why people stress out so much over AP exams. you don't need to know all, or even most, of the material to get a 5.

Wait.... I feel really unprepared for this test (my physics class sucks and my teacher doesn't really care. Unfortunately I am a junior who will be applying to some selective schools and I DO care....)
how does the Physics scoring work? I'm confused. What does a raw score of 115 even mean? And what is the wrong answer penalty? 1/4 like SATs?

don't worry about raw score.

there's 70 multiple choice questions. take the number right, subtract 1/4 of the number wrong, then multiply by 1.2857.

then take the amount of points you got on the frq, multiply by 1.125.

add these two together. that's the number that matters.

115+ is a 5
90+ is a 4
63+ is a 3
lower is either a 2 or 1

the scoring table is from 2004, but is about the same for all years

OHhhhhhhhhhhh ok that makes sense. Haha, I saw the "raw score of 115" thing and thought "WHA-?! There are 70 questions!" Thanks for clarifying.

MAnnnnnnn I don't want to take this, but if I don't then I don't pass AP physics heh.

Ahahaha...our class as a whole is so screwed. We took a practice test from the 1980s and scored 3s across the board. I wish we had a teacher that actually taught us. We'll be lucky with any 4s.

the older tests are harder than the new ones

Curve's a bit harsher 123-180 for a 5. Well, that makes me feel a little better. XDD Now I've one week to teach myself all of it.

hahah, I would be pleased if our class could score 3s. when our teacher gave us a practice multiple choice section, we all got 2s. Apparently we are as intelligent as monkeys.
