***AP Physics C Mechanics 2014-2015 Thread***

Do you think the curve will be good this year?

yeah, a lot of people were pressed for time and the curve is generally good on physics. For example I think you can get like 60-70% and get a 5

@schakrab Generally a raw score >50/90 will be a 5.

yeah so lots of room for error. Is it really that low? 50/90 is like a 56% which is a BC calc level curve. Wasn’t the case on bio last year but fortunately the test was easier. I didn’t do 3 MC’s and assume I missed 7-8 more and while I thought I nailed the FRQ I will still assume I missed 4 points on each one but that still gets me a 5.

what did you guys get for the two blocks connected by a spring on a wall?

@schakrab what was the question asking again

Which factors create acceleration, I, II, III?

acceleration right when they are released and what provides force

I said spring and wall. Restoration force and 3rd law pair. For acceleration I said kx/3M…wasn’t sure about either though

Hated the free response. Happened to have the one type of problem I couldn’t do

So I was dumb and switched my cosine and sine for the one free response, the one where it asks for velocity in part a… Any ideas how many points off ill get ? It messed up all the parts that followed, my work was medium but I did all the next ones correct, just had the wrong v…

was that form O? Asking for acceleration?

Okay so does anyone know what previous year curves are? Because my entire class died on that test haha. I think I got like 20-25/35 on the multiple choice and I did well on the first two frqs before bombing the third (maybe got 5-6 points on that?) What can this get me? And is appass accurate for physics?

anybody know if there were different forms for the mc too? cuz i know for sure free response was M and O…

According to my teacher, this is some of the score breakdown:

50% correct or above - 5
40%-49%~ - 4
30%-39%~ - 3

I don’t know anything lower, and I’m not sure if this is accurate but this is what my teacher told me. They were hard! Hopefully I managed to scrape by with a 5 haha

I actually think the Physics C curve is more generous than the Calc BC curve

That test destroyed me

Hoping for a 2! :’)

Advice to future Physics C students: DO NOT take the AP test if you started studying the day before the test and took Physics 1. You will die.

gsintheta sound familiar to anyone :)?

@Newdle It does to me. Maybe I’ll get a 2.

Did anyone else just run out of time on both sections? I bubbled at least 8 random answers on multiple choice and didn’t have time for the second half of the last free response.
