AP physics c:mechanics after AP Physics 1

I am a rising senior and I recently took AP Physics 1 as a junior. I am currently signed up for AP Physics C: Mechanics but after seeing my ap scores, I know that I only made a 3 on AP Physics 1. Would it be a good idea to switch into AP Chemistry as it seems physics may not exactly be my thing?

Have/are you taken/taking Calculus (next year)? If math isn’t your thing it may not be the best idea.

I took calc AB this year and made a 5. Math is my best subject

I might self study Calc BC this year

I took Calculus AB and Physics C: Mechanics together this year, and got a 5 on both classes. The Physics class works really well with Calculus, so I’d totally recommend it as a sort of applied math class, but if you feel you didn’t do well in Physics 1, you might be better off in Chem, as the curriculum for Physics C: Mechanics is basically Physics 1 without electrostatics.

The Physics 1 test was scored pretty harshly this year. If you did well in Physics 1, you will probably be fine in Physics C, especially if you are great at math

There were issues with the transition to Physics 1. The material you learned may not have been the material tested. If you learned a more math-heavy physics, like the old Physics B content, you may now be better prepared for Physics C than if you’d taken what the AP Physics 1 test has become.
