I am currently in Honors Physics B right now and getting a B average. I was wondering whether or not AP Physics C would be a good choice for my science next year. From what I heard AP Physics C involves a lot of calculus and I will be taking calculus for the first time next year. Do you think I will be able to handle it? How difficult is the class?

I took physics C as a freshman. AP physics c was an easy A both semesters with a moderate amount of calculus (basic derivatives and integrals)- I was taking calculus ab at the time. I think it all depends on your school and class though. However, the physics c test was challenging. Somehow pulled through without studying and got a 5. The frq was ridiculous.

It’s up to you though. I’d ask others who have taken it at your school as they will be more reliable sources in terms of course difficulty.

Thank you! I did ask the teacher of the class at my school and she said that it would be okay to take calculus for the first time with AP Physics C. Even though she said this I found that everyone in the class was in at least Calculus 2, and none in Calculus 1.

You heard wrong, there’s hardly any calculus involved and it’s at a very basic level anyway.
