AP Physics Test vs CP Physics?

Hi, so I have a dilemma. I can either take College Prep physics at my school next year, or AP Biology. I’m planning on taking AP Biology since it is actually an easier class at my school. If I do though, I wanted to also take the AP Physics 1 test at the end of the year by self studying. If I got a 5 on it, would it look the same as taking CP Physics?

i’m not exactly sure how college prep classes appear to colleges, but a 5 on the AP exam would definitely look good

Thanks for the reply! I know it would look good haha but I’m not sure if it would for example count for the one year of high school physics required for colleges like CalTech and MIT

If you are concerned with the difficulty level of a college prep physics class, then MIT and Caltech are not a good fit. A lot of top colleges want to see a year each of biology, chemistry, and physics. A test scores is not a substitute.

Haha the difficulty of the class is not a concern. As a prospective biology major I figured AP Bio would look better. Since my school only offers 6 class slots a day, I can’t fit Physics into my schedule, and was wondering if an AP test score would look the same as a non-AP class.

AP biology will certainly look good for a prospective biology major, but taking a year of high school physics is pretty basic for top schools especially for a stem major. Just taking the AP test really isn’t enough.
Are you going into your junior year next year, or senior year? If you’re going to be a junior, then you have two years to fit in both a physics class and AP Bio. If you’re going to be a senior next year, then you wouldn’t even be taking this AP physics test until after college decisions are out so it’s not gonna do any good at all at admissions time. Is there any way to take both sciences next year, or one over the summer?
