AP Prep Book Recommendations?

I’m planning on buying AP prep books for next year, and even after doing research, I’m just not quite sure on which books to buy. I need prep books for:
AP World (which is changing next year, so I’ll have to get a 2017 edition. Sigh)
AP Physics 1 (preferably one that I can pretty much self-study from - my class next year might not be much help)
AP Calc AB/BC (I’ve heard that Barron’s is good for this because the practice tests are challenging, so I might get Barron’s)
APES

Thanks in advance!

Bump!

Bump again!

I liked PR review for both APES and BC Calc. They both do a great job with explanations.

Barrons is notorious for having hard practice tests. I have a few Barrons books and I really like them (AP Psych and Calculus AB/BC).

AP Physics 1 is relatively new, so it might be hard to find a good prep book for it.

For AP World, 5 Steps to a 5 is great & concise. Also go on getafive .com and watch the videos there. It’s an amazing tool to use.

@oneandonlyx, thanks for the recommendation! Would you say that 5 Steps to a 5 has * all * the information I need for the AP World exam, or only a basic review? I don’t want my prep books to be too concise lol as I want to know all the possible content for the exam.

I would advise not getting Princeton review for social studies. Never used any other company but I tried studying out of PR and it was useless. Barron’s and PR are good for sciences. Just go to Barnes and Noble, go to the prep book section - they will have something like 3 or 4 different companies for your test. Take each one, sit down, and compare a section you know well and find which type of book helps you most.

@Mathophile26 Definitely. It’s concise but you have all of the information you need.

@1650mile, ooh, that’s a good idea. I’ll have to try that ;).

@oneandonlyx, great, then I’ll probably get 5 Steps to a 5 for AP World.

I actually really liked Princeton Review for WHAP. I got a 5, and PR was much more of a help than Barron’s was.

Crash Course is fantastic! I have used them for all 3 of my APs (APUSH, AP English Lang and AP Human Geo) as well as the Princeton Review books, and have gotten 5s on all.

I’ll definitely look into that, @yonceonhismouth! Thanks for the advice.

Calculus for Dummies saved my life!! Not really a prep book but it really helps you understand concepts (using the same terminology ysed in the book and in class).
