AP Prep Books and Advice

First of all, congrats on surviving a whole year of AP exams! I hope you all are satisfied with your scores! Anyway this upcoming year I’m going to take AP English Lang, APUSH, AP Macroeconomics, and I’m retaking AP European History because I only got a 3 this year. Here are my questions:

  1. A lot of people self-study AP Econ so I was wondering if I took the AP Macro class, how hard would it be to self-study only the AP Micro part?
  2. What are some good review books for AP Lang, APUSH, and AP Econ? I'm leaning to get two prep books for each subject but I'm not sure. Any response is appreciated :)

I wouldn’t retake Euro if you aren’t planning on being a history major and since you got a 3. If the schools you are shooting for allow you to claim credit with a 3, you’re golden! If not, I would spend time studying for subjects that you are taking an AP in this upcoming year so you can do amazing and get 5s!

About the macro/micro, those are pretty hard classes (at my school at least) so idk about self studying then. Frankly, I dont see the appeal of this whole self studying thing, but if it floats your boat. Try and ask your teacher if one will substantially help to study for the other and go from there.

Princeton is always a good option for AP prep, Some recommend Barron’s, but for certain subjects only is it better than Princeton. Look up whether this applies to your classes. Good luck!

^ agree with the above advice. Even if you are going to be a history major, you don’t want to skip a class you don’t understand well. But before retaking, check to make sure your desired college will take a 3. If you really want to place out and possibly save a few hundred dollars, sure, go ahead and take euro again if you think you can study well.

I can’t offer advice on economics.

I took lang and apush this year. Didn’t do well on lang (4) and didn’t use a prep book (how do you study for this class…?). I did get a 5 on both euro and us. I used Princeton review and 5 steps to a 5 for euro, and just 5 steps for apush. Also check out review vids on YouTube/khan academy. Good luck.
