Ap psych or ap comp sci?

What looks better to colleges?

Put “AP credit” in each college’s web site search box and see if the college gives useful subject credit for it.

Both are considered relatively lightweight APs, since typical subject credit, if given, is only for a semester-long introductory course in the subject.

a lot of people do bad on comp sci, but I took ap psych and the exam is pretty easy. I used barrons about 2.5 weeks before the exam and pulled off a 4( although I gotta admit I was expecting a 5  )

What do you think you want to major in? If it’s a social science or humanities field, do AP Psych. If it’s some sort of STEM field, go with AP Comp Sci.

What other options do you have, instead?

The short answer is neither.

Thanks for your input guys! I’m leaning towards comp sci but any more suggestions???

So this is what I plan on doing senior year:
Calc BC or calc at a community college for dual enrollement (which is better also?? I already told AB and got a 5 on the exam)

AP compsci or psych
AP Econ first senester. Personal fitness 2nd semester
AP physics b
College English at community college
AP art history (need an art credit and an AP class to boost GPA)

My other options (I want to take an AP) would be AP euro, AP bio, and that’s pretty much it. I feel like I wouldn’t be able to pull off bio with the rigorous course load I have and I HATE history

Buuuuuuuuuuump

AB ~= first semester freshman calculus.

Are the BC course and the community college course semester long courses?

A 5 on any exam will look better than a 3 on anything else, so picking the one you think you will do better in is probably your best bet in terms of how it will appear to colleges. Keep in mind that if you are more interested in one subject rather than another, you are more likely to do better on the exam!

That being said, also choose based on what you are considering for your college major. If you want to be a psych major and will put that on your application, taking AP Psych shows to colleges that you are serious about your decision. This applies to computer science as well. STEM subjects use computers and programming a lot, so taking Comp Sci would be a useful skill.

Given that you will probably major in something that interests you and something you are good at, it all boils down to which class sounds more interesting.
