AP Psychology self study

Honestly, from those of you who have taken the AP test, how much do you recommend I self study throughout the year to get a 5 on the AP? I'll be bus ywith other classes and stuff so im kinda looking for the subject that i can read a prep book and hopefully... do well

A 5 on AP Psychology, self study, is easy to do if you take the time to memorize the great load of terms and names involved. At the very least, read the review book cover-to-cover twice (that's what I did, I and managed to receive a 5). Don't forget to check past threads for suggestions because many CCers have self-studied AP Psych.

lol I skimmed through 1/4 of PR right before the test and got a 4. I would guess that you can get a 5 if you spend a couple hours on it.

I took the class, but never studied for tests and never studied for the actual AP exam, and I got a 5. So I bet if you take the time to read the textbook and such you'll be just fine.

wait ur saying u skimmed through without taking the class or ANYTHING???...

Hey, I read through (in detail though) Barron's Review Book once and managed to get a 5. Gotta love the Psychology curve and my BSing skills...

o yea ..how big is the psychology curve for a 5?
and how far do u guys think reading Myers 7th edition (Then reading the barrons book b4 the test )will get me?

A 5, hands down. I went out of the test room thinking I had gotten a 3, and miraculously got a 5 instead. Seriously, all you need to do is study a bit and memorize the terms and the 5 will be a breeze.

lol thanks Alot Pandora ;) btw u know wats the cuttoff for a 5? (Approx curve.)..

Based on Barron's - there are a total of 100 multiple choice (1 pt each, -.25 for wrong answers) and 2 short answers (9 pts each X 2.78 for weighting) A 93-150 = 5, 72-93 = 4, 53-71 = 3. So, let's say you get 80 multiple choices right and no blanks, that's 75 pts right there, and get only half of everything right on the short response (25 pts). That's 100 total, for a 5.

Based on the 5 Steps to a 5 Book, a 100-150 is a 5.

Edit: the two short answers may be weighted differently, but they add up to a total of 50 points weighted.

for those of you who took the test self-study, did you take any psych classes?

...if take test self-study, doesn't that essentially mean you didn't take any psych classes? Or do you consider self-study to be taking the AP w/o the AP class?

Anyways, I didn't take any psych class at all.
