***AP Psychology Thread 2015-2016***

hey everyone! so I stayed up until 4am to study for the exam, only to realize today that I didn’t do the 2nd free response question…did anyone else encounter this problem or have a confusing time finding the ap psychology 2nd response?

also, if I got around an 80-87 on the multiple choice and a almost perfect on the frq, (1st question only, obviously) will I still be able to get a 5?

@junejiehuang dang, I feel bad that you couldn’t complete the 2nd frq. I did encounter a very minor issue locating the second FRQ, but all I had to do was keep flipping the pages. The approximate amount of points on the psych test are - 100 points for MC and ~25 points for each FRQ. Assuming you get 80-87 MC questions right and a near perfect FRQ 7/8, you would just make the 4 mark and almost approach the 5 mark. Hopefully you can still get a 4, which is still a pretty good score.

@1601er haha ya…I did talk to my psych teacher about it and he was speechless at first but then said that if a lot of other people made the same mistake I did, CB would curve it more. Idk if it was just me, but the first question looked like 2 questions cause the 1st FR was like seperated into 2 parts, and apparently last year they put both the 1st and 2nd question together on the front ): I know that my other friend didn’t do the 2nd FR either

@junejiehuang TBH, for psych, there is no difference between a 4 and a 5 credit-wise which is really all that matters. As long as you’ll get a 4 or know that you’ll get a 4, you need to worry about it.

If anyone is concerned with calculating their potential scores, this link should help: http://appass.com/calculators/psychology

@aude182 according to ap pass, you will get a 3 based on your predictions. But I’m pretty sure you got a much higher score than 1-2 on the fr because the psych fr portion is extremely lenient. 1-2 sentences for each part of the question generally scores a point within reasonable bounds. That’s why I’m predicting you got a 4.

I looked for the second FRQ before even writing thankfully, but the first FRQ just threw me way off. I probably scored 75-85 MC and like 2s or 3s on both FRQs. :frowning:

@thenorthstar You should be good; assuming that you got an 80 on the MC, and 3’s on both FRQ’s (with a standard deviation of 1), you’ll get a mid-to-high 4 or a low 5, depending on how CB curves AP Psych this year

I felt like this particular exam was incredibly simple. Despite how AP psych carries a certain reputation as being an easier AP, the 2016 test felt like a breeze compared to former exams. The essays were really accessible and straightforward. Anticipating a 5 for this one

thank you  now that the FRQs are posted, I double-checked some of the stuff I wrote and i didn’t make too many glaring errors!! @Demonslayer1234 @1601er

You guys have the score cuts way off. They redesigned the exam and last year was 65 for a 3, 83 for a 4 and 104 for a 5 according to my teacher.

@PsychicPanda2 wait what? the AP Pass calculator is based off the 2014 exam and apparently you can get a 70/100, and 4/7s on both free responses, and still get a 5. Also AP Psych is one of the APs that are easier to get 5s on, and I doubt that they would curve it so harshly as to make it 80/100 and 6/7 on both FRQs to make it a 5. Are you sure that 104 is the cutoff for a 5?

And frq’s are out of 7 https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/ap/ap16_frq_psychology.pdf

It obv varies every year, but I’m following CB’s past rubrics, and according to several ap calculators, I doubt a 104 can get u a 5. Also, they didn’t redesign it completely, they just started using DSM-V instead of DSM-IV, which has nothing to do with the scale.

@Falconsroach7 Well, if you think about it that’s how these achievement tests should be: easy enough so that those who know the material can earn the points that they deserve. Because those who don’t understand will miss it either way, there’s no point in trying to confuse students. This exam was indeed a breeze, and I’m not complaining.

According to ap pass, a 96 is a 5, and that is based on the 2014 curve

I checked the FRQ for psych, and I found out that the last sentence of the first FRQ had to deal with the conditioned response question.

AP Pyschology, 94 question secton 1, anyone know which year this was from?

5! Sooo happy on this one! Self-study dreams DO come true! And it was my first AP exam, too… Only 2 people at my high school (including myself) took it. Especially for reading the princeton review book the weekend before…

Got a 5!
