AP Psycology

I am a Freshman entering the IB program and currently taking two AP classes, AP Human Geo and AP Psychology. I am confident with Human Geo, but I am the only Freshman in my Psychology class and the teacher does not recommend I stay in that class. The rest of the class is filled with Juniors and Seniors. It’s been one day and the teacher’s already assigned 57 pages of homework and 40 notecards to write. I feel like if I stayed in that class it would take up my entire schedule and I would struggle maintaining a high gpa. The class seems really hard, but I did receive 98% as my lowest grade last semester, although Science is not my strong suit. Should I switch out, is it recommended to take psychology in high school, or should I just stay and commit to the challenge

What reason do you have for wanting to take AP Psych? Is it an interest of yours, or did you ust take it for the sake of another AP? And 57 pages of homework??? What’s going on there?

AP Psych was very easy and interesting class for me personally (I’m currently majoring in Psych so there is some bias in that statement for sure). I took the class Sophomore year and my teacher basically gave a similar workload as the one you described above (we had around 30 pages of notes and 60 notecards due the first day of school) despite this, the class was very interesting and all the work helped you memorize all the terms. As for the exam it was very simple. Most of it was vocab based or focused on the main topics we’d reviewed through out the year. Was the work a tad excessive and the tests in class more difficult than the exam? For sure, but it was worth it in my opinion.
